Ischtar Khalaf-Newsome
Solicitor
Ischtar trained with Dawson Cornwell in 2005 and joined the firm as an associate solicitor in 2007. She undertakes all aspects of private family law advising on the financial consequences of divorce and separation as well as on private children matters. She has particular experience in cases with an international, cross-border dimension.
Ischtar has a BA/MA (Staatsexamen) in German and English from the University of Berlin, and an MA in Islamic Family Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Ischtar completed her practical Legal Training in 2005 at BPP Law School. Prior to joining Dawson Cornwell Ischtar worked as a Casework supervisor for Reunite; International Child Abduction Centre in London.
Ischtar has written for the Family Law Journal. She is a member of the British-German Jurists Association and the Association of German Speaking Lawyers.
Ischtar is a native German speaker and speaks fluent English. She has intermediate French and a reasonable knowledge of written and spoken Arabic.
